SEPTEMBER 14th – 20th Annual SponCon & After Party!!
Home ReSource and our community have been celebrating Spontaneous Construction (SponCon) for twenty years! Designed to inspire a culture of reuse, SponCon is our annual event where 20+ community teams have seven hours to build the most beautiful, functional, and creative pieces they can dream up using only materials from our ReUse Store!
The Family Fest is a free experience with youth reuse activities from Home ReSource and community partners! Watch teams build and shop our ReUse Store for your next DIY project!
For our 20th Anniversary, we are keeping the action rolling with an After Party! Come enjoy a FREE concert from Mudslide Charley, carnival games, raffle, prizes, food, drink, dancing, and so much fun!
After the judges announce winners, pieces are publicly displayed at the Missoula Public Library, featured in the October First Friday art walk, and top-judged creations are auctioned off at Home ReSource’s annual Sustainability Auction on October 13th.

Team Information:
Compete in the 7-hour building competition!
Teams have 7 hours to build the most masterful, functional, creative piece they can dream of, using only materials found at Home ReSource. Teams can be made up of 1 – 5 folks, are provided space to build, access to power, and use of a cutting station. All participants receive a commemorative SponCon t-shirt, lunch sponsored by Parkside Credit Union, and a free drink at our After Party! At least one person from every team must attend a mandatory meeting the evening of September 12th.
Team types and registration costs:
POWER TOOLS TEAM
$150 per team (6 people MAX)
18×12 ft work space
Access to 110v power
HAND TOOLS TEAM
$75 per team (6 people MAX)
9×12 ft work space
Access to battery charging station
YOUTH BUILDERS (one participant under the age of 18 required)
$50 per team (5 people MAX)
9×12 ft work space
Access to battery charging station
What happens next? Most items will be displayed at the Missoula Public Library until the auction and featured during the October 4th First Friday art showing. (Items too big or unstable might not be transported).
The Grand Prize winner will be announced at the Home ReSource banquet & benefit auction on Sunday, October 13th, 2024.
