
Intro to the Woodshop: Edge Grain Cutting Boards

In this classic course, learn how to safely plan, lay out, and execute a basic woodworking project in the Home ReSource woodshop. Select and identify pieces from reclaimed and/or new hardwood, then design, build, and finish a beautiful edge-grain cutting board. Participants will train on the miter saw, jointer, planer, router table, and table saw to build this project. Cutting board may be built to any size up to 1-1/4″ × 15″ × 20″.
Session 1: Tool & safety training, introduction to selecting hardwoods for cutting board, process reclaimed wood.
Session 2: Mill material and begin glue-ups.
Session 3: Flatten the cutting board, sand, and add edge details.
Session 4: Final sand and apply food-safe mineral oil finish.
