Did you know that Home ReSource has a full scale professional woodshop in the heart of our Reuse store? Many people wonder what is behind the ReVamp door, and now is your chance to find out! We think our woodshop is pretty rad, and want to share a handful of ways that you can come and get your hands dirty. We offer community woodworking workshops and a whole lot more! Open Woodshop Hours – Community Workshops – Group/Organization Workshops
Open Woodshop Hours
Our Open Woodshop hours are available for registration! Register here!
Open Workshop hours are Fridays from 1:00-4:00. If you have any questions, please send an email to workshops@homeresource.org.
Is there a project you’d love to create, but don’t have the space, tools, and/or expertise you need to get going? Here’s your answer!
We’re opening the Home ReSource Woodshop to the community. All skill levels are welcome! Bring your projects and gain access to the tools to construct them.
Project materials can be purchased through our store or at other local shops. Here are some of the tools available for use after training in the Home ReSource Woodshop:
- SawStop Table Saw
- Compound Miter Saw
- Planer
- Jointer
- Drill Press
- Routers/Router Table
- Bandsaw
Prerequisite: You’ll need our free tool training first, which you can do during Community Woodshop at no charge. Train only on the tools you need, or learn them all. Tools available to use and train on include: miter saw, SawStop table saw, drill press, lathe, overhead sander, planer, jointer, router, and bandsaw. Once you are trained on the tools you need, you can use them for any upcoming workshop or during open woodshop time. Tool training begins at 12:30 on Open Woodshop Hour days.
Registration Fee: The tool training is always free! Project session hours are based on a sliding scale calculated using your household income. This fee ranges from $5 – $25 per hour and will be determined during registration.
Community Workshops
Some people think of these as a “make-it, take-it” workshop, where you sign up for a specific class, learn about the tools and skills needed to complete the project, then build it and take it home! These classes are great for woodworkers in all stages of their process – from beginners who have never picked up a hammer to do-it-yourself professionals looking to fine-tune or pick up new skills.
These workshops are put on in collaboration with the Lifelong Learning Center, and registration takes place through their website or by calling. All class prices include the designated time and materials for the project.

Group / Organization Workshops
These workshops teach reuse skills to students and community groups like Youth Homes, Girl Scouts, Frenchtown School, Forward Montana, and Mountain Home Montana. These workshops teach shop safety, reuse, and job training skills to groups. Students have the option to build something they keep – like a coat rack or birdhouse made out of reclaimed wood – or they can build larger items for other nonprofits around town (such as raised garden beds for the Missoula Food Bank and Community Center).
Groups leave our shop with lifelong skills and a sense of accomplishment and empowerment. Previously, the YWCA GRIT (Girls Representing in Trades) group visited us to build benches for the YWCA shelter. A group of 12 rad teens spent the day learning how to use the chop saw, power tools, and how to measure twice and cut once. They ended the workshop with four amazing benches and a sense of accomplishment as they added one more skill to their toolbelts.
Schedule your group for team building or project based work today in our workshop. We charge a sliding scale fee based on number of people, prep hours, class time, and material costs. Contact workshops@homeresource.org to get started!
