In 2015, increasingly aware of obstacles faced by many young people in our community, we launched the Youth Internship & Apprenticeship component of our work programs to provide meaningful employment experience to teens and young adults. In partnership with area schools and other youth-focused programs, we provide a safe, structured work environment, mentoring, paid job training, school credit, and a reference to high school aged participants. Over the years, we have provided internships and apprenticeships to more than 50 primarily low income young people, five of whom went on to become permanent Home ReSource staff. These young people have become integral to our store team, inspiring us with their energy and optimism, and benefiting from the knowledge and kindness of their supervisors and coworkers.
Know of a young person interested in joining our crew as a paid youth intern? We offer three open sessions a year – winter, spring, and fall – which are 64 hour internships. Our 10-week summer session takes place in partnership with All Nations.
Applications for any of the sessions can be submitted at any time. Find out more and complete an application today!
